About

About Dean

I’m Dean Rasmussen — a queer trans man, life coach, and someone who knows what it means to rebuild your life from the inside out.

I didn’t arrive at this work because everything was easy. I arrived here because I had to learn how to stop abandoning myself in order to survive.

Like many queer and trans people, I learned early how to adapt. How to read the room. How to shrink. How to choose safety over authenticity. For a long time, I believed the goal was to become someone more acceptable — more stable, more certain, more “together.”

But real growth didn’t come from becoming someone else.
It came from integrating who I already was.

That process — unlearning shame, rebuilding self-trust, reclaiming identity, and choosing alignment over assimilation — is the foundation of the work I do today.

Why I Do This Work

I work with queer and trans people because I know how isolating it can feel to navigate identity, relationships, career, and personal growth in a world that often misunderstands or politicizes your existence.

You deserve more than survival.

You deserve:

  • Clarity without erasure
  • Confidence without arrogance
  • Ambition without abandoning yourself
  • Growth that doesn’t require self-betrayal

Coaching with me isn’t about “fixing” you. It’s about helping you recognize that your lived experience — your resilience, your perspective, your depth — is an advantage when it’s integrated, not hidden.

My Approach

My coaching is:

Identity-affirming
Your queerness, your transness, your lived experience are never treated as side notes. They matter.

Reflective and practical
We don’t just talk about insights — we translate them into action.

Grounded, not performative
This isn’t influencer-style empowerment. It’s steady, honest growth.

Direct, but compassionate
I’ll challenge you when needed. I’ll also hold space when things feel heavy.

You don’t need someone to tell you who to be.
You need someone who can help you hear yourself more clearly.

The Inclusive Advantage

I believe that when queer and trans people stop organizing their lives around fear — of rejection, of failure, of being “too much” — something powerful happens.

Energy comes back.
Clarity sharpens.
Decisions get easier.
Self-trust rebuilds.

That’s what I call the Inclusive Advantage:
When your identity becomes something you build from, not work around.

A Few Things About Me

Outside of coaching, I’m someone who values depth, honesty, and intentional growth. I care about community. I care about integrity. I care about doing work that actually matters.

I’m not here to sell you a version of success that doesn’t fit.
I’m here to help you define what fits — and move toward it with confidence.

If that resonates, I’d love to connect.

My Journey

My path to this work has been deeply personal.

I’ve lived the distance between denial and celebration. I’ve known what it feels like to build a life that looks stable on the outside while something inside you quietly waits to be acknowledged.

Before I transitioned, I spent years as a mother of five. I navigated marriage, faith, and even chose to put myself through conversion therapy in my mid-twenties after coming out the first time. I understand what it means to try to make yourself smaller in order to keep belonging. I understand the weight of complex emotions, responsibility, and the fear of what authenticity might cost.

And I also understand what it gives back.

At 40, I embraced my truth fully and began living openly as a man. That shift wasn’t just about gender. It was about integrity. It was about choosing alignment over survival. It was about reclaiming energy I didn’t realize I’d been spending on hiding.

That personal transformation didn’t just change my life — it clarified my purpose.

Today, I help queer and trans individuals build lives rooted in authenticity rather than fear. I help people move from self-protection to self-trust. Because I know firsthand that authenticity isn’t just something to accept — it’s a catalyst for growth, clarity, and real momentum.

You don’t have to lose your entire life to find yourself.
But you do have to stop abandoning who you are.

That’s the work.
